Doctoral Researcher (f/m) on the research topic:
“Interaction Design for Social Innovation and Sustainability”

Deutsche Telekom Laboratories (T-Labs) is a joint scientific research institute of Deutsche Telekom and Berlin Institute of Technology (TU Berlin). We carry out pioneering research into innovative information and telecommunication technologies, addressing in particular human perception and interaction, networking and security issues. The Laboratories are located on the campus of Berlin University of Technology.

The Design Research Lab (www.drlab.org) at Deutsche Telekom Laboratories (www.laboratories.telekom.com) is currently seeking a competent and motivated Doctoral Researcher, starting from May 1st 2010, with the following theme/title:
“Interaction Design for Social Innovation and Sustainability”

(Scientific researcher, “Wissenschaftlicher Mitarbeiter”, salary according to the BAT IIa scale, affiliation at University of the Arts, UdK Berlin)

The Design Research Lab is led by Prof. Dr. Gesche Joost. A team of young researchers devotes to contribute both theoretical and practical knowledge to design research and discourse, nationally and internationally.
The candidate will be responsible for conducting his/her own research project, conduct user studies and transfer the results to design concepts and interventions. He/she should also pursue his/her own doctoral dissertation. The candidate should have general knowledge and competence in design practice and will engage in design research.
Requirements

* Sustainable design theories & methods
* Qualitative and participatory design methods
* Prototyping and/or programming skills
* Experience in scientific working
* High level written and verbal communication
* Excellent English skills
